THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR OUR BEST FESTIVUS YET -- STAY SAFE, STAY BEAUTIFUL, STAY FREE
Thanks to Glebe Farm for getting this video footage of Eliza Lynn's set. Toubab Krewe will be touring all year -- keep up with them on their website and on myspace. If you've got pictures or footage, please let us know:
THE OLD NEWS (SEE YOU NEXT YEAR):
Toubab Krewe will headline the 5th annual Festivus in Cabot, VT on August 25. Other scheduled performers include Adam Deitch w/ DJ Equal, Vorzca Trio, Wombaticus Rex, Amapola and Eliza Lynn. Tickets are $30 at the gate, or $50 for a family, which includes camping. "Camping" can mean many things, but we mean 93 acres of beautiful land, endless hiking trails, and a swimming pond. There will be food vending onsite. Gates open at noon and the music starts at 2 p.m.
2007 5th Annual Lineup:
Toubab Krewe: Odds are, anyone reading this already knows that Toubab Krewe is gaining a reputation for putting on one of the best live shows going.
Adam Deitch with DJ Equal: You might not be familiar with Deitch or Equal, but you are familiar with the people they've worked with. Deitch is a legendary session drummer who's done work with Slick Rick, John Scofield, Lauryn Hill, John Medeski, Meshell Ndegeocello, Justin Timberlake, Dead Prez, and dozens of others. DJ Equal is an internationally-known turntable animal whose studio credits include work with J Dilla, MF Doom, and Madlib -- he's also spun live for everyone from Arrested Development, Pharoahe Monch and Hieroglyphics to the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra.
Amapola: The music of Amapola originates from Latin America, but they're one of the NEK's best kept secrets. Led by the sultry vocals of Miriam Bernardo, Amapola will take you on a journey through the fiery, powerful and rhythmic sounds of this region. Amapola means poppy in Spanish and, like the flower, the music is beautiful and seductive. Joining Miriam will be Jairo Sequeira, guitar; Tom Morse, trumpet and flugelhorn; Giovanni Rovetto, bass; Sara Grace, drums and vocals; and Andy Suits, percussion.
Vorzca: Local heroes making national noise, we're honored to have Vorzca do Festivus this year. The Burlington, Vermont based group is made up of Ray Paczkowski on organ and vocals, Gabriel Jarrett on drums and Robinson Morse on upright and electric bass. They make dark, funky and fascinating music, and they put on one hell of a good show.
Eliza Lynn: A dear friend of our from Asheville, North Carolina, Eliza Lynn has had a seriously amazing year and we're very proud of her. She was voted best singer/songwriter in the 2006 Asheville Mountain Xpress Reader's Poll, released her debut CD, Frisky or Fair, and she's been selected to appear on the Putamayo collection "Americana," which will be released July 31st worldwide.
A FEW POINTS TO REMEMBER:
This is a family-friendly, positive-people party for humans who can handle freedom. Bring your own drinks, food, and camping supplies. Plan on spending the night -- we're strongly discouraging anyone leaving the party, for obvious reasons.

9.6 miles later, in West Danville, you will turn RIGHT onto Route 15 (also known as "The Grand Army of the Republic Highway") towards Walden and Hardwick.
After 5.5 miles, you will come to an intersection with a logging company and the Walden Fire Department to your left. Take that left onto Route 215 (also known as "Cabot-Walden Road") towards Cabot.
After 1.7 miles, you're going to see Pransky Road to your RIGHT. It's a VERY SHARP TURN, so exercise caution, sanity, and a touch of style when you pull in. There will be trained assistants who will guide you through the process from there.

From points north - Burlington, Greenland, etc.
Take I-89 to exit 8 in Montpelier. Stay on Memorial Drive until it becomes Route 2 --- then stay on Route 2.
After around 10 miles, you'll enter the town of Marshfield, and to the LEFT of the General Store/gas station complex, you'll see VT-215 S (also known as "Cabot Road"). Take that left, heading towards Cabot.
Precisely 7.2 miles later, after passing through the village of Cabot, you will come upon Pranksy Road to your LEFT. Be advised that the turn is on a sharp corner and a steep downhill grade for those Festivus-goers who came from down South. Keep an eye out for them. Once you're onto Pransky Road, our automated conveyor belts and robotic servant-drones will assist you from there. For your safety, please keep your hands inside your vehicle, and avoid any sudden movements.
